Horses Build
Better Humans

Kayla wants kids to truly learn the foundation of horses, starting with groundwork, communication and connection. The goal is education in addition to learning to ride: students learn to become safe, aware and smart with horses.

Horses are used all over the world for therapeutic purposes because they can provide so much to humans in emotional and energetic ways. In our lessons, students learn how beautiful and important it is to connect with horses not just with their hands, but with their hearts.

The horses in this program were chosen for their safety and gentleness.

Our number one priority

Safety Comes First

These are large animals. Even the best of the best horses can still accidentally bump, turn sharp or step on a toe. Safety comes before connection, education and learning to ride. Students learn to ask a horse to respect their space, and to stay aware and watch horses so they keep themselves safe.

Parents Must Stay With Their Students

  • A parent or guardian must stay on-site for the entire lesson.
  • Kids must be sitting calmly, where they are supposed to be, at all times. The ranch is not a place to run around.
  • A child who suddenly runs past can spook a horse, which is a major safety risk. Lessons are held on someone else’s property, so these rules also protect the privilege of using it.
  • If following these rules is an issue, we’re not able to offer lessons.

Meet Kayla

Kayla has been riding since she was 4 years old. She learned on two Shetland ponies and other great full-size horses, then moved up to her own show horses and gained great experience.

She showed western in 4-H and open horse shows from ages 8 to 20: showmanship, western pleasure, reining, trail, bareback, barrels, poles, scurry and more. She learned to fully care for her own horses, including driving her horse to shows in a big truck and horse trailer at age 17, and she did rodeo queening for two years, winning titles and riding in parades and rodeos.

Teaching horsemanship has always been a dream, one she had let go of when owning horses didn’t seem possible. Kayla is beyond excited for this next chapter and will pour her heart and soul into these lessons, students and horses.
